POSITION DESCRIPTION:Training Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Adult Education Director
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and facilitate trainings for over 40 English language/ civics teachers and enhance their professional development
- Develop lesson plans that are linguistically and culturally appropriate to different ethnic communities
- Motivate teachers to use innovative lessons that improve immigrant civic integration
- Develop training curricula to enhance English language acquisition as well as immigrant civic participation and engagement
- Visit teaching sites and facilitate teacher training sessions and consultation
- Provide resources and networking opportunities for teachers
- Inform teachers and administrators of developments in adult education policy and practices
- Help develop and maintain strong partnerships with universities, government agencies and other nonprofits in adult education and related fields
- Keep accurate records of teacher trainings and attendance
- Assist and support in the management and administration of Adult Education/literacy grants
- Assist and support in the preparation of literacy grants /proposals and reports as appropriate
- Represent CAAAELII at conferences, and special events
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in adult education, non-profit management, or related field
- 5 or more years in teaching, teacher training or curriculum development
- 2-3 years experience working in a diverse and multiple ethnic setting
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Broad knowledge in the field of adult education, second language acquisition and immigrant rights
- Understanding of culturally relevant issues impacting immigrant communities
